January Review - February Goals
January went pretty poorly as meeting my financial goals is concerned.
I started with $22 and my goal was to get to $150.
I actually ended up losing money.
My wife and I planned a sudden cruise vacation that we took a couple weeks ago. Great vacation. Bad for the dollar jar.
I had increased the jar up to around $50 but then stole a bunch of the singles to use tipping various people on the trip.
So, I’m down around $10 right now.
The only thing that I can see costing some money in February that I would not normally be spending anyway is a Valentine’s Day present for my wife. I’m not sure what I’m doing yet, so I don’t really know how much I’ll be spending. Probably around $100.
My goal for February is to end up with $110 in the jar. That will be about $25 per Friday.
On the future income front, I made enough in December and January to qualify for another Google check which should come around the beginning of March. None of that will help me this month, but I should be able to use some of that for my March goal.
According to my 2007 goal of having $1000 (and saving $1700 since I have to buy my football season tickets in a fwe months), I will need to save about $155/month from February on. Hopefully the my personal portion of the Google money will start making up some of this early deficit. My anniversary is in March which will take up some money.
By the end of April at the latest, I definitely would like to be caught back up with the savings goal. Let’s see if I can do it before that.
