The FCC has setup a new number to call before doing any digging in your yard for fences, decks, etc. In Illinois, we’ve always been able to call Julie but then you would have to look up their number.

Now, no matter where you live in the USA, you can dial 811 and get connected to your local call center for getting your yard marked for gas, electric, phone, and cable lines.

What does this have to do with money? If you ever cut one of those lines, there are fines to be paid.

With the number being so close to 911, I wonder how many accidental dials each service will get?
