Save money by working from home
The client I’ve been working for let’s me work from home. I’ve had to go in about once a week at the most but even that is starting to trickle off. My employer sent me an expense check for the mileage the other day and it kind of reminded me how much money I am saving by working from home.
The client site is about 40 miles from my house, so that’s 80 miles round trip. That’s 400 miles a week. My car gets about 30 miles to the gallon, so we’ll say that’s 13 gallons a week. The current rate for the cheap gas is $3.28 as of today. That’s over $40 per week in savings.
I’m also not buying breakfast, bottles of water, lunch, or snacks. That’s easily another $10 per day or $50 day per week.
$90 per week. That’s pretty amazing. And that’s not even factoring in the 2 1/4 hours of time that I would spend actually driving. I can’t even begin to put a price tag on having those extra hours at home and avoiding the frustration of staying off the highways.
