Easy way to save money - Keep the singles
Saving small amounts of money frequently throughout the year will be important in my quest for $1000. I probably will never save more than $40 at any given time toward this project.
One easy way to save small amounts of money is to throw all of your loose change in a jar. It is easy and deceptively affective. Banks are starting to provide the option of rounding all purchases up to the nearest dollar and throwing the change into your savings account.
My wife and I already have a change jar that we use for purposes not related to my $1000 goal and it collects all of my loose change and will continue to for quite a while.
But, nobody has dibs on my one dollar bills. So, every night, I will collect any one dollar bills from the change I get when I buy things with my weekly fun money and throw them in my special jar (currently an empty Folgers can). That will probably give me about $10 a week or so.
I will start tonight if I have any singles at the end of the day.
