One of the places I love to spend money is at the book store. I buy paperbacks but only end up reading about a third of the books that I buy. I currently have quite a handful of books that I bought both as new and used sitting around waiting to be read. In fact, I would say that I have about a year’s worth.

And, I’m going to challenge myself to read only from that stash in between now and the end of 2007.

If something really tempting pops onto the market next year, I will try to get it at the library instead of buying a copy. Libraries are a great way to save money and most large libraries will try to buy books that you ask them to stock if they don’t already carry it.

Recently, I have been buying about 20 new books a year. At about $8 per book, using the library and my own to be read stash should save me about $160 next year.
